  • Deepwater Facility
    The Port of Newcastle handles trade worth around $37 billion per annum and is at the heart of our city's economic strength.
  • Freight and infrastructure
    With excellent national rail and road connections, the Port is actively diversifying its freight operations.
  • Clean Energy Precinct development
    A 220-hectare Clean Energy Precinct is being developed to position the region as a major producer and exporter of clean energy, including hydrogen and ammonia. Supported by a $100 million Australian Government gran, the project is expected to contribute $4.2 billion to the economy and create thousands of jobs by 2040.
  • 100% Renewable 
    The Port’s sustainability achievements rank second globally, reflecting the city’s forward-thinking approach. 
  • Continued development 
    With significant industrial land still available with direct port access, the Port of Newcastle is well positioned to to expand operations and future proof our city.


Offshore Wind Energy Projects

Newcastle is advancing offshore wind opportunities, with the Australian Government granting a feasibility licence to Equinor and Oceanex Energy for the Novocastrian Wind project. If viable, it could generate over 2 gigawatts of power—enough to supply 1.2 million homes.
