NSW Batteries for businesses incentive

The discount is larger if you install both a battery and solar together.

Installing a battery can help your business:

• reduce your electricity costs by storing and using more solar energy
• keep power on during outages if battery backup is enabled
• decrease NSW’s reliance on fossil fuels, helping us reach net zero carbon emissions.

How much is the incentive

This incentive is usually provided as an upfront discount in the quote provided to you for the installation of a new battery at your business. Larger batteries may require different financial arrangements.

This discount is larger when installing both a new battery and new solar capacity.

If you’re eligible, discounts can be:

• about 30 to 40 per cent off the cost of installing a battery when it’s installed together with a new or additional solar system 
• about 20 to 30 per cent if you install only a battery.

Eligibility for the discount

Businesses in NSW may be eligible for this discount if they:

• are installing a battery between 20 kWh and 30 MWh in size
• are not a residential building or a data centre
• have not already used this discount to install a battery 
• work with an installer offering this discount
• obtain required planning approval.
